Claim

The top of the World Trade Center 1 was destroyed before the collapse0.

Background

The claim is used to support the overall claim that the Twin Towers did not collapse as described in the official reports, namely due to the damages from the planes and the subsequent large fires that could not be fought. Instead, the Twin Towers were allegedly destroyed by huge quantities of explosives and top secret military-developed nanothermite which were placed in the World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 prior to September 11, 2001. When the nanothermite (and explosives) were ignited, the three buildings then collapsed1. The claim refers to a video called “AE911Truth Experts Speak Out”. The video is produced by one of the most prominent organizations in the Truth Movement, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. The organization is calling for a so-called unbiased investigation of the terror attack on September 11, 20012.

Facts

Looking closely at the video and the frames, it is obvious that the top of the World Trade Center 1 (the North Tower) is not destroyed, before the lower part of the building begins to collapse:  
  First, those floors where the plane hit collapse, followed by the top plowing its way through the building, causing a total collapse. The top is obviously intact when it starts to fall.

Logic

It is unknown, what the purpose would be of first pulverizing the top and then detonate explosives and nano-thermite on the lower floors. If a given conspiracy wanted to destroy a building under the guise of a fire, it is not expedient to first pulverize a part of the building that is not burning. On the contrary, it would look extraordinary and suspicious and thus increase the probability of the conspiracy being revealed. An instantaneous pulverization of the top would also result in such enormous booms that everyone for miles would have heard them, and the booms would be caught on all recordings made. There is no evidence of these enormous booms before the tower collapses on any of the recordings. Nor have any witnesses heard them3.

Conclusion

The claim is therefore:

  • Without witnesses
  • Undocumented
  • Illogical
  • Self-contradicting

    Hvis man pauser videoen, kan man navigere frem og tilbage i videoen én frame af gangen, ved at bruge højre og venstre piletast. Det gør det meget let at se hvad der foregår. Der var altså ikke nogen bygnings-top, der kunne pløje sig igennem de 80.000 ton usvækket stål i resten af bygningen (på kun 12 sekunder).
